Kyiv, Ukraine — United Ukraine, an independent Ukrainian think tank, has launched a strategic new initiative titled The Policy Room, designed to provide regular, confidential briefings for diplomatic missions based in Ukraine. At a time of profound geopolitical upheaval, the initiative aims to build shared understanding of Ukraine’s foreign policy decisions as they unfold in real time.
Held under the Chatham House Rule, the briefings create a discreet and informed space for foreign diplomats to engage with Ukraine’s top political, strategic, and policy thinkers. Discussions focus on urgent foreign policy issues including shifts in international security, Euro-Atlantic integration, sanctions regimes, and engagement with the Global South.
“In times of existential challenge, clarity is a strategic asset,” said Dr. Ihor Petrenko, Founder of United Ukraine think tank. “With The Policy Room, we offer an honest and intellectually grounded platform to explain the context behind Ukraine’s actions — not just the what, but the why.”
Anton Kuchukhidze, Co-founder of the United Ukraine think tank and expert in political science and international relations, who moderates the briefings, added: “Our diplomatic partners often face a flood of information, but very little curated context. We’re here to offer insight beyond headlines and to make space for nuanced, off-the-record conversation. That’s how trust and coordination are built.”
Each Policy Room session is held by invitation only, featuring high-level Ukrainian participants and international observers. The goal of the Initiative is to bridge the gap between official diplomacy and strategic understanding — because in today’s Ukraine, understanding is a form of solidarity.
