Simply introducing sanctions is not enough, it's integral to prevent their possible circumvention

Anton Kuchuhidze, a co-founder of the analytical center United Ukraine, believes that the EU made the right decision. After all, simply imposing sanctions is not enough. It is essential to block possible ways of bypassing them. As the expert emphasized for Comments.ua, the Ukrainian authorities have been stating this since the first day of the large-scale Russian invasion.

"Because of the bureaucracy, Europe does not introduce anti-Russian sanctions as quickly as we would like. However, it does so steadily and rather effectively. All this increases both the pressure on the aggressor and the position of Ukraine in the world. It's worth recalling that an international expert group has been created under the leadership of the head of the President's Office of Ukraine Andriy Yermak and the ex-adviser to the US President on national security Ambassador Michael McFaul. It deals specifically with the issues of effective sanctions and the impossibility of circumventing them," Anton Kuchuhiddze noted.

According to him, the new decision of the EU serves as a continuation of Kyiv's official policy. Now, it is also integral for the European Parliament to recognize Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism.
